Shana Risby
Shana Risby is a senior and a native from Detroit, Michigan. She is currently studying in Communication with an emphasis in Public Relations and minoring in Psychology. Shana transferred after getting her Associates degree at Wayne County Community College, in Detroit, when she was recruited to play Basketball here on campus. Prior to her attendance to Marian she was featured on Channel 7 News for her accomplishments and the telling of her life story in a segment called “Against All Odds”. She also was on WordStar Hip Hop, various YouTube pages, newspaper articles and got asked to speak on 910 AM Superstation, back in her home town. Shana didn’t stop there. She helped create the first Black Student Union on campus and is the current Public Relation/Social Media Coordinator for the organization. This is her first year as a Resident Assistant for housing. She is an active member of Toastmakers, Diversity Club and TRIO SSS. She has been working at the Boys and Girls Club of Fond du Lac for two years, and believes kids are the future. Her successes won’t stop there, she is excited to join to the Sabre Voice Newspaper and help shape something great.
